Aluminum Processing

Cincinnati Steel Treating is the area’s number one aluminum heat treating specialist. This includes solution treating, aging, stress relieving and annealing of both cast and wrought aluminum products. Whether aluminum hardening or annealing is required, CST is able to meet our client’s heat-treating needs.

Aluminum comes in many different shapes and sizes. It can be forged, extruded, cast, or rolled. There are heat-treatable grades as well as pure alloy grades. Of the heat-treatable grades, processing can include solution and aging, annealing, stress relieving, or simply aging from the as-produced condition. Cincinnati Steel Treating is capable of performing all of them. These heat treatments are performed to achieve certain specific properties, and a special letter designation is attached to the name of the alloy grade to reflect the heat treatment that was performed. The letter O stands for annealed, W for solution treated, and T for solution, aged and tempered to a condition other than O.  Refer to the Aluminum Assocation Standards or to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)  for more specific information. Let the engineers at Cincinnati Steel Treating help you find the correct aluminum heat treatment for your needs.
