Ferritic Nitrocarburizing [FNC] is a case hardening process similar to gas
nitriding that is used to produce a hard wear resistant surface on all grades of steel and
most cast irons. As low temperatures and no quenching are involved, distortion and size
change are very low so it can be successfully applied to a wide variety of finished parts
ranging from small stampings to large pieces up to 57 in. diameter or 70 in. long
